Taxmarc’s External Engine Service can be used for any (ERP)-system.

Based on an XML input message, the Taxmarc webservice can be called during a transaction to determine the indirect tax.

To automate the determination of indirect taxes, several input fields are required.

The input fields required depend on the scenario the transaction is in.

Example of input fields required for a standard sales transaction:

  • General transaction information:

    • Invoice date
    • Invoicing legal entity resident country
    • Invoicing legal entity Ind tax ID number(s)
    • Transaction type

  • Shipping information:

    • Ship from location
    • Ship-to location
    • Incoterm

  • Product information:

    • Material tax classification or Commodity code
    • Service group

  • Customer information:

    • Customer resident country
    • Customer tax status
    • Customer Ind tax ID number(s)

For automating indirect taxes, the fields above cover most sales transactions with 2 parties (AB) in the supply chain

However as soon as we deal with 3 or more parties (ABC), we need more input fields. Consider, for example, input fields that provide information about the new party A. The more complex the transaction, the more input fields are needed.

Based on the fields Taxmarc receives, a call will be made to the Taxmarc engine. If mandatory fields are missing, the call will return an XML message containing information on what is missing. When all mandatory fields are available Taxmarc will send an XML message containing the indirect tax results for that transaction (reporting country, tax code description, percentage, customer tax registration).

The Taxmarc team is happy to help you build the XML message, discuss the input fields needed for your business and set up the connection to the Taxmarc tax engine webservice.
